Goonies Among Us...

If you found us you should know that this is our life with cystic fibrosis, three kids, overworked husband, stay-at-home Mom, one dog, chaos, fun, noise, appreciating each day no matter how nutty...or, your 'typical', 'average' life.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

A very youthful 64 today, with a healing neck, sore shoulders, and post H1N1 fatigue. However, despite all this she is still one of the most active, spirited people I know. And, I get to call her Mom. Lucky one, I am.

Happy Birthday, Mom! Take care of yourself this year and be gentle and ask for help, ok? Love you!!!

Giving Thanks

Well, how fitting that my 401st blog entry can be about giving thanks, for we are truly blessed.

That cystic fibrosis can cast such a spell and web of doom and gloom isn't true. Of course it is in some cases, just not ours, not yet. CF has had binding effect on us. It has given us all an Evil Overlord to rally against. To stand with fists raised and curse at that Dark Overlord. To stand back and appreciate the weeks where not much is going on. The entire yin/yang of it all...

What a solid base it provides against which to scrutinize those things that go on that, usually, don't really matter in the grand scheme of life. Without which, we might actually live an empty, false experience. CF has made sure that we don't forget that.

And so on Thanksgiving day, we give thanks for each other, those whom we surround ourselves with, and those we may not even know yet that are to play a role in our collective life. Parents for surviving us; friends for holding our hands and befriending us; soldiers for providing us with freedom; and the Dark Overlord of CF for giving us such deep perspective and depth of feeling.

Happy Thanksgiving to you. May you be as blessed as we feel.

Who Did This?

So incredibly cool. The nurse at the emergency room told me about it while Gracie's head injury was being checked out before Rock n Bowl. Really.

Rock n Bowl on Saturday (aka Trevor-Fest)

Bowling?
Rocking?

Both.

Please come? It's fun for the kiddies to bowl. It's fun for the parents to rock. If we were smart, we'd arrange kid-care on the bowling side so that parents could stay longer and enjoy the music...ahhh, to be of this age.

Thank you to the mighty volunteers who graciously make it happen. A small, powerful, well-oiled machine, they are. All our love.
